Organizer: Global Working Group to end School-Related Gender-Based Violence that is co-convened by UNGEI and UNESCO
Event Type: Virtual panel discussion - moderated Q&A
This year marks the 6th year that the Global Working Group to end School-Related Gender-Based Violence has been commemorating the 16 days of Activism to end gender-based violence. Through the last six years, with support from USAID, the SRGBV WG has put out calls to action to prevent and respond to SRGBV in and through education. Through blogs, webinars, calls to action and events, the SRGBV WG has presented the promising work of its members as pathways and solutions to integrate GBV prevention and response through the education sector.
On the 30th anniversary of the 16 Days campaign, the SRGBV WG will harness, once again, the power of collective impact to bring to light the interconnectedness of different actors in ending GBV in and through education. The campaign will highlight the instrumental role of teachers and school leaders as change makers and the importance of nurturing their well-being; the power of young leaders and feminist networks in creating vital circles of support for those affected by GBV; and the importance of equipping education systems with the means to prevent SRGBV.
The campaign will wrap up with a virtual event showcasing tools and solutions to address school-related gender-based violence in and through the education system. The moderated panel discussion will present the key tools, approaches and insights from implementing programmes to end SRGBV. The tools presented will include among others the USAID Measurement Toolkit, the Whole school minimum standards to prevent SRGBV.
