The development of the Asia-Pacific SDG4-Education2030 Knowledge Portal is funded by the generous support of the Government of Japan, through its Fund-in-Trust (FIT). The support provided have enhanced the regional mechanism for coordination, advocacy, and monitoring of SDG4-Education in Asia-Pacific.

The Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau for Education (UNESCO Bangkok) leads the work on SDG 4 in the region and coordinates the regional multi-partner group as well as an SDG 4 National Coordinators network. Implementation is guided by a Regional Roadmap for 2015-2030. The 5th Asia‐Pacific Meeting on Education 2030 (APMED 2030) focused on Target 4.1 (ensure that all girls and boys complete free, equitable and quality primary and secondary education leading to relevant and effective learning outcomes) and Target 4.6 (ensure that all youth and a substantial proportion of adults, both men and women, achieve literacy and numeracy). The Regional Recommendations for Action to accelerate progress of SDG Targets 4.1 and 4.6 encapsulates the outcome of the Meeting with clear recommendations on the way forward.
