Save the Date: Sub-Regional Consultation on HIV-related Stigma and Discrimination in Education settings

 

We are pleased to invite you to Save the Date for the upcoming regional consultation entitled Sub- Regional Consultation on HIV-related Stigma and Discrimination in Education settings”. This consultation has been co-organized by UNAIDS Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, UNESCO Bangkok - Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education, UNFPA Asia Pacific Regional Office, together with YouthLEAD and the Asia Pacific Network of People living with HIV. 

The objectives of this consultation are to:

  • examine the impact of HIV-related and intersecting forms of stigma and discrimination on learners and educators and,
  • discuss effective, comprehensive, and age- appropriate policies, strategies, platforms, and programmes to address stigma and discrimination in education settings. 

A discussion room in the recently launched HIV-related stigma and discrimination Community of Practice for Asia and the Pacific will also be introduced at this session. 

The consultation will take place on Tuesday 11 October 2022 at 9:00 -11:00 am Bangkok Time, UTC +07:00virtually via Zoom. 

It will be open to the public and will target diverse stakeholders working in and with the education sector, including Ministries Education and Health, students and student body representatives, teachers, teachers’ unions and other education-related associations, national and international NGOs, Networks of PLHIV and key populations, organisations of young people and UN agencies among others.
