The UNESCO international seminar on the role of teachers in preventing and addressing school violence, "Not on my watch", mobilizes action to end violence in schools, and provides an opportunity to look at the special role teachers play and the support they need to help keep schools safe.

As the headline event for the 2022 International Day against Violence and Bullying at School including Cyberbullying, "Not on my watch" sees the release of new data on the role of teachers in creating safe learning environments. It brings together education policy makers and practitioners, development partners, teachers and other members of school communities, forging new collaborations and innovations in school violence prevention.

With all eyes on the need to Transform Education, understanding how teachers can be central to that change is more important than ever. With the right support, training and leadership, teachers can play a key role in making schools a safer place for learners and can be at the forefront of efforts to prevent and respond to all forms of violence in school.
