About: The Global Action Week for Education (GAWE), observed annually from 23-29 April, is an initiative led by the Global Campaign for Education and supported by UNESCO that advocates for the importance of education and advancing the Education 2030 Agenda.
This year’s GAWE theme, “Accountability for SDG4 and Citizen Participation” calls on us all to hold governments and the international community to account for delivering on the full promise of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4), “ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.” Almost all Asia-Pacific countries have committed to pursuing SDG4 and the public and civil society play a key role in ensuring that they uphold those commitments.
