Asia-Pacific Regional Online Consultation on the 2020 Global Education Meeting (GEM) Declaration

The Asia-Pacific Regional Online Consultation on the 2020 Global Education Meeting (GEM) Declaration will specifically discuss and collect regional inputs on the draft outcome document “2030 GEM Declaration”. This document covers the urgent educational themes in the context of COVID-19 response and recovery, to be fed into the upcoming Extraordinary session of the Global Education Meeting (2020 GEM).

The 2020 GEM will provide a significant platform for all Member States, partners and key stakeholders to protect and rethink education in the current and post-COVID-19 world and agree on global priority actions for educational recovery and progress in the Decade of Action for Sustainable Development. Furthermore, the 2020 GEM Declaration is expected to send a strong signal to underscore the political will and commitment of high-level decision-makers and prominent personalities to put education at the heart of recovery to prevent “a generational catastrophe” in the field of education and beyond.
