South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) among countries of the Global South, as well as in triangular cooperation constellations and multi-stakeholder partnerships, are a central element for effective reform and transformation of education systems by which countries are able to learn from one another through technical cooperation, knowledge sharing and support.

Focusing on multi-stakeholder partnerships to accelerate SDG 4 through effective reform and transformation of education systems, the Thematic Solutions Forum seeks:

  • To raise awareness and enhance the understanding of how SSTC is accelerating learning recovery and supporting the transformation of education systems
  • To demonstrate SSTC best practices to accelerate learning recovery and transformation of education for learners today and in the future
  • To mobilize multi-stakeholder partnerships to raise political ambition, action, and solutions
  • To increase stakeholder commitment to  the transformation of education systems in the South-East Asia region, as well as globally through SSTC

During the Thematic Solutions Forum, intergovernmental organizations that are exemplary mechanisms for SSTC in the field of education, such as the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO), , will present successful SSTC solutions for education in the areas of (i) equity and inclusion, (ii) technology and digital transformation, (iii) learning assessment in South-East Asia.

Presentations will be followed by a plenary discussion during which areas that provide great potential for SSTC partnerships in the framework of learning recovery and transforming education systems in South-East Asia, as well as examples of successful SSTC partnerships from the region that could be scaled and replicated, will be jointly explored.

The Thematic Solutions Forum is organized by the Learning and Education 2030+ Networking Group (LE2030+), which is the UN’s regional mechanism for coordinating the implementation and monitoring of SDG 4 of the 2030 Education Agenda in the region, and an important platform for regional South-South and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC). Strong regional and sub-regional coordination for education in the Asia-Pacific region through the LE2030+ promotes multi-stakeholder partnerships and continues to effectively facilitate SSTC.
