Digital Learning and Skills for All: E9 Heads of State Meeting

Date and Time: Postponed to later in the year

Organizer: E9 Secretariat

Event Type: Consultative Meeting

Where: Online from New York, United States of America

The pandemic has disrupted education in all countries and shone a light on the pre-existing global learning and skills crises, characterized by inequalities in access and outcomes, and major funding shortfalls. It has also revealed gaps in traditional education and training systems while demonstrating the possibilities for progress through flexible, hybrid and blended learning methods and pathways. As the world enters a phase of gradual recovery, the time has come to reimagine education, by utilizing all avenues, technologies, and tools to expand access to the knowledge and skills required to drive structural transformation and to thrive in inclusive, green, and digital economies.

The United Nations Secretary-General and the Government of Bangladesh (as Chair of the E9), supported by UNESCO, UNICEF and Generation Unlimited invite you to join the Digital Learning and Skills for All: E9 Heads of State Meeting.

This meeting will support joint efforts to reimagine education in Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Nigeria, and Pakistan. Accounting for over 50 per cent of all learners in the world, with a history of collaboration this initiative aims at leveraging education for a better and inclusive recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and accelerating progress on SDG 4.

The E9 Heads of State meeting builds on the discussions held among Ministers of Education in April 2021 on the need to leverage and taking to scale local ecosystems and strengthen collaboration and partnerships across various levels of government organizations, the business sector and research institutions around the digital learning compact in and across our countries.
